Every month, MC College Winnipeg students take a break from the hustle and bustle of school and the salon/spa to give some TLC (tender lovin’ care) at the Ronald McDonald House. In a partnership with Robertson College, students are invited into the home to set up a pop-up salon/spa for the House Residents and staff.

“The first time I volunteered here, I did a mani on Baby Joy. I instantly fell in love with her! The way she looked up at me made me want to keep volunteering” says MC College Esthetics student, Shiniah Simard.
Melanie had her 1st mani, while Joy, had her 1st ever pedi & massage thanks to @mccollegegroup & @RobertsonColleg! ♥ pic.twitter.com/utoF8US9I6

Now in her last 4 months of the Esthetics program, Shiniah says that “before [she] started school, [she] she was really shy and volunteering at the House helped [her] get out of [her] bubble”. “Everyone at the House is super nice and interesting” she continues.
We asked her: why is it important to you to volunteer?
Shiniah: “You get to meet a lot of interesting people and it feels good to help others”
