Sharing the Love with Ronald McDonald House Manitoba

Every month, MC College Winnipeg students take a break from the hustle and bustle of school and the salon/spa to give some TLC (tender lovin’ care) at the Ronald McDonald House. In a partnership with Robertson College, students are invited into the home to set up a pop-up salon/spa for the House Residents and staff.

From nails decorated with hearts, minions and mini Olaf’s the Esthetics students did express manicures and pedicures:

The first time I volunteered here, I did a mani on Baby Joy. I instantly fell in love with her! The way she looked up at me made me want to keep volunteering” says MC College Esthetics student, Shiniah Simard.

Now in her last 4 months of the Esthetics program, Shiniah says that “before [she] started school, [she] she was really shy and volunteering at the House helped [her] get out of [her] bubble”. “Everyone at the House is super nice and interesting” she continues.

We asked her: why is it important to you to volunteer?
Shiniah:You get to meet a lot of interesting people and it feels good to help others
